    Good listen, fellas.

When the topic of should Dach have played in the WJC I was interested to hear what you had to say, Ray.  I know you played college baseball, assume it was up north here, so you have experience in this regard.

I know college teams go south for some exhibition games and assume you did too.  I see Dach at the WJC as the same thing.  There are no NHL preseason games this yr and I saw Dach  playing 7-8-9 WJC games as preseason games.  Until this yr NHL players got into 4-5-6 games and Dach was doing that in the WJC.

Same way NHL guys like Hronek, Kotkaniemi, Puljajarvi, Zadina and Heinola are playing in Europe right now and will play with their NHL clubs this yr.  And of course there is an injury risk.

Canadian kids grow up dreaming of winning a Gold Medal not of playing in the NHL.  That comes after the WJC.  This is a huge deal for any Canadian kid and Dach too.  Add Dach was taking a leadership role, playing/practicing with NINETEEN 1st rd picks the talent and speed he’s around is developmental for him regardless of 60ish NHL games played IMO.

So I was on board with the kid playing for a lot of reasons……… Just looked him up and didn’t realize Colliton won Gold with Canada in the U-18 WJC and the U-20 WJC and a Silver with the U-20’s too.  I’m sure he weighed in on the decision to allow Dach to play as he knows first hand what this tournament is for a kid.

Posted here the tell that this season is a tank was the decision to go with the in house goalies.  They can tank with the cover of “letting the kids play”.  Now with Dach out the tank will be more successful.

As far as Strome, 2 things.  He’s can’t play 3C (his D sucks and can’t win a draw), can’t play wing either.  His only use is 2C.  And he does have chemistry with Dcat so one could argue he can help get Dcat going but I hate the idea of a 6 mil guy needing a particular player to be effective.

Good listen guys, got a good bit out of it.
