How It happened
— The Sun Devils jumped out to a 2–0 lead in the first period, with the goals coming 51 seconds apart. Arizona State made it a 3–0 advantage early in the second period on Friday’s hero Tyler Gratton’s fifth marker of the year
— Denver stormed back to score four times in the second period, starting with McKade Webster’s second goal of the season.
— Freshman forward Miko Matikka added his fourth goal of the year less than one minute later.
— Junior Jack Devine provided the game-tying and go-ahead goals, his ninth and 10th of the season, with the latter coming on the power play.
— Sophomore Jared Wright scored his third of the year at the 3:39 mark of the third period after slipping past the Arizona State defense and tipping in Carter King’s centering feed.
— Arizona State got one back on a 4-on-3 power play, with Matthew Kopperud rifling a bad-angle shot home from the right side of the cage.
— Late in the third period and with the Sun Devils’ net empty, the Pioneers scored two empty-net goals, including King’s seventh of the year. Rieger Lorenz joined in on the fun with his third.
— Freshman forward Sam Harris added the dagger with under eight seconds left for good measure.
