After shoring up the NHL’s worst defense with two veteran acquisitions in the last several days, Stan Bowman turned his attention to the forward pictu

[/quote] Depends what else they do this summer, but overall, I think the positives outweigh the negatives
June 30, 2019 at 6:59 pm #13877KevinParticipantI like the trade. Ryan Reves is making 2.75 mil. How much did Kevin Hayes make? We would spend more in FA market and the Hawks are doing well on the trade front. We needed a player like Shaw to move around the line up and play with and edge.

June 30, 2019 at 9:14 pm #13879DK002ParticipantThis tells me they’re not going to get a big fish which I didn’t think they would in the first place. I think you’re looking at a Corey Perry type move here – I mean what’s Dzingel going to be getting.
I like Shaw and what he brings and I think was done with trying to excite the fan base a bit…and lord knows that’s what McD wants/needs. You know they’ll go nuts at the convention for him. Shaw gives you some edge that they’re sorely lacking and will energize the room a bit…but this isn’t one of the Cup teams. After they moved Shaw they had absolutely no net front presence except for AA. And JJ states he could be gone shortly.
But overall where is this team right now as far as a playoff team…? Adding Shaw isn’t going to by any means get it done. Are you adding a couple more forwards? And what about a vet backup when Crawford goes down again…? If you’re competing or saying you’re competing then Delia is not the answer based on CC’s recent history.
I really hope the Hawks aren’t serious about extending Bowman at this point. But rumor is they are and apparently he’ll get a full NTC/NMC – the first GM to get one. LOL.

There was alot of talk about his training program last year as he was trying to revive his career. He injured his abdomen prior to camp and had to back off his training. Then he agrivated it again in February. I am not sure now if he was 100 percent while he was playing last year. Here is hoping that is behind him and he can become not the player he once was but at least an effective blue liner.
JJ, do you have any information on this?

Much more to do. This should be an exciting day. Go Stanislaus.

Horseshit call and suspension. Sure, Shaw has done some bonehead stuff when he gets wound up, but I don’t think he’s as dumb as Kadri. If they were going to bring back someone I’d prefer it to be Shaw. Sideways move, but we know he’s versatile and is tough to play against. I like to watch him play. I’m ok with this.
