Any idea what Stan is up to?
Maybe just clearing salary because revenues are going to be down as long as we’re in a global pandemic? That’s a beancounter’s rationale.
But, would you get more for him at the deadline? And how do you not get a draft pick in return? Especially if you’re retaining salary?
Seriously, does anyone have a clue what Stan is up to? Why does he still have a job?October 10, 2020 at 9:29 pm #18247theneekParticipant
JJ where are you when we need you?!?!
If you take a step back this trade makes sense because we get a HUGE 25 years old D man. Right now Hawks have smaller, older players and young, smallish D-men coming up. Saad was inconsistent and not noticeable on most nights since Hossa retired.
It just hurts that Stan traded the almost league MVP to get Saad back.
It will be interesting what Stan does next.October 10, 2020 at 11:18 pm #18250Under Qs moustacheParticipant
Saad and Toews haven’t been the same since Hossa retired. It’s safe to say that Toews benefited more from Hossa than from Saad. Kane loses his wing and Toews gets the wrong winger back for Panarin. Good work Stan.
Saad might have fetched a later first rounder at the TDL, but the Hawks needed size on the defense NOW, after drafting smallish light weight defenders for several years. Saad only produced when he was on the 3rd line last year and wasn’t pulling his 6M cap hit; so this is a deal more than a salary dump. Hawks net 1M in cap and get a left defender with size. Rockford gets a left defender to replace Gilbert.
