The upstart Colorado Avalanche visited the UC last night—with the home team Blackhawks trying desperately these days to figure out how to actually win

I think he has a better year next year. That was impressively ridiculous though. Gustafsson and Oesterle are not very good hockey players.
At least Patrick Kane tried really hard the whole game. He should probably be wearing a letter at this point.
Anyway, hopefully Detroit wins some games here and they can fall another spot. Based on the history they have a fair chance of getting a lottery winner if they drop to 5th. Above that hasn’t won it in a while.

He’s very lucky he didn’t connect with his stick cuz he’d be sitting out for a long time, into next year I think. I have to wonder if someone said or did something prior to the hit as the game was all but over.

Going out on a limb here, both Keith and Seabrook have looked like top 4 defensemen with something left in the tank more often than not of late. If Bowman wants to reload and try to get back and make another run, he needs to be adding around them on the blueline, not looking to replace either (which is likely not gonna happen anyway with Seabrook at minimum)

When the Hawks were good they fell behind early only to use the last 20 to 30 minutes getting back in the game. Most times they were successful. Now they score first and let the other team back in the game. Goaltending is part of this as is the defensive scheme. Just not enough balanced scoring from the top 9 to play this way.
Martinsen is a beast. And unlike the Machinters, TooToos, and CarBombs of days past, this kid can skate. Hands? not the best, but he’s a big body that may become a force along the boards, and a deterrent to those that take liberties with the many smurfs that populate the current roster. Add Hayden, Highmore, and maybe another; this team could take on a different look next year. We can only hope. Hold your nose til then

This could be an insane summer where they turn a corner real fast and probably have another two years to replicate the LA rivalry with Nashville.
