The Blackhawks are currently on a four-game winning streak and putting themselves in the worst possible scenario heading into the end of the season. W

So what are the Hawks supposed to do? Loose on purpose? Just give up so they can get a higher pick?  What message does that send to the young players? Do you think Kane and Toews will be thriled to just pack it in and trade away to much from the team? They will not stay around for that. If everyone at the rink thinks by trading away Toews, Kane, Seabrook, and Keith is the answer, well it is not. If those playwrs were traded over the next few yeats to start a full blown rebuild we will never get back any real value and tje draft picks we get are no guarantee they will pan out. Just look at the oilers. My opinion we are a couple of depth scorers and one maybe 2 dman away from taking another shot at a cup.  With Kane and Toews still producing I say we go for it. I would make some prospects available and trade away some contracts like amnisamov etc. With the cap going up over the next 2 years and loosing ward, Crawford, and others will free up over 10 mil alone. That is not including the room we allready have and the possibility of movimg arterm and maybe one or two other contacts out. So we have the room to go out and get some help. I say we go for it. It is worth it. A rebuild does not automatically mean you will win again.

The Hawks are 7 players away.

1 top six forward, an entire 4th line. 3rd line 40pt player.

If you include Keith and Seabrook, two top four defenders.

The only reason they ara this ‘close’ is the power play. That falls back to earth or they flip Gus (or Saad + Gus for a Hamilton type – we have some of the worlds best museums) and they get better on the blue line but still can’t score so play Ward a bunch finish bottom 5 and get an impact player + maybe a FA signing.

The 5v5 stats since JC has taken over have tanked. The notion that this team is somehow playing better is preposterous. They have a lethal power play and are getting good goaltending. They are a bad team otherwise.

LOL. 7 players?  I have to disagree. You are way off on that one.

Your opinion is blinded by nostalgia.  This cup window is 100% closed and cannot be opened for another 2-3 years.  The sooner you come to terms with it, the sooner you can move on and plan for the future.

The only reason this team isn’t in dead last place by miles is 19/88 are having career years.  You don’t take runs for cups with GAAs of 4.00, and giving up 35 shots a game.    NO team can do that.

Also, the culture thing is way over blown. Even when you’re on a bad team you still try hard to win. Losing some games isn’t going to hurt these guys feelings or ruin a young player.

Keith, Seabrook, Sharp, Hossa – all on some very bad teams before a surplus of talent got the Hawks to the top and it is what will bring them back.

Losing this year and getting top 4 pick very important if not essential and they can really sand bag out without having the guys throw games with a few moves.

Break the pp and don’t let Delia get hot.

After winning tonight in a rather awesome way (5 goals in the 3rd period) they now sit 4 points from a playoff spot. I’m not sure how many millions Wirtz & Co. make for each playoff game, but its worth noting, and not beyond reach right now with 28 games to play. I’m pretty sure Winterpeg, Calgary, or Nashville would make quick work out of them in 4 or 5 games, but making the playoffs is what Stanbo and McDougnut were hired to do.

88,19,7,2, and 50 are all on borrowed time. In 3 years most of the bloom on 19,7,2, and 50 are gone, if they are not traded away or retired by then. Kane will still produce 25 to 35 goals a year if he chooses to continue to play after the others are gone, so who’s going to replace any of the other 4? (especially 19)

Giving up over 35 shots a game and staying in the game with a now lethal power play is a tried and failed program ( see San Jose over the past decade)

The “Organization”doesn’t have the stones to tank this year or any year for better picks, because they can make millions, “just getting in”. Missing the playoffs does not make for job security; both Stan and John know this. So the Hawks are going to make a run for it now, Jack Hughes or Kakko be damned. Millions in the bank now is worth more than futures, which is how the Wirtz empire was built, and explains the 28 year Pulford era for the Hawks. They didn’t tank to get Toews and Kane, they fell that far down the ladder just trying to make the playoffs every year.

Oh man you guys are so one sided.  I don’t have to come to terms with anything, The team is scoring goals they just have to find a way to limit shots (Playing better Deff) more and then the GAA will go down.  How is the cup window closed  if you say they could make a run in 2 to 3 years? Ya the GAA is bad this year due to some guys getting older, Murphy being sidelined for awhile and mixing in rookies, changing coaches. Like I said we need some depth scoring because we are currently in the top 10 for scoring with the top 2 lines carrying the load and we cant expect them to do the same next year. If we add 2 D-man to along with the scoring then we will be alright. I remember all the message boards and articles after loosing in the first round twice after the first cup. Some wanted Q fired along with Bowman. Some said the hawks were done and will not win another cup. We all know how that turned out.
