Kahun has some really nice wheels and hands.  He is going to be hard to cut.  Which is a good problem to have.

I think he makes the team, and plays 3rd line

Kahun’s feed on Hayden’s goal was Kaneresque.  Burying one of his own too, I gotta believe he’s made the club. Martinsen’s strong effort, too – altho Q already having given him the, “I liked his game” was pretty sure he was already a lock. Last night proved Q’s favorites sometimes really do deserve it.

I agree on Kahun making team.  I think Kampf will too, and I think Luke Johnson has a good shot of edging out Sikura or Hayden to make the team. Johnson hustles and he can kill penalties , while I think Sikura needs time and I think Hayden is half a step slow, and doesn’t hustle like Johnson nor is he as good a penalty-killer. As for defensemen: I think Davidson will make the team and one of the two kids (depends on who plays better the rest of the preseason, but I hope it’s Bovquist because he’s the fastest d-man they’ve had since Leddy left.) I was also impressed by Gilbert: nothing fancy, plays defense first, and brings physicality to the game.

If they waive Kunitz, how much are they on the hook for if he clears and goes to Rockford?  Because I dont know what he adds to the team. They dont need experience.  They have that in spades.  They have leadership.  They need a better 2C, and bottom 6 speed and defense.  And Im not sure he does does any of those things.  Kahun and Kampf at least give them C options if they need it or if they can trade Anisimov for a used skate sharpener.

While he doesn’t deserve to be on this team, I don’t think that will ever happen.  He’ll be a 14th forward but, to answer your question, they should be able to bury up to $1,025,000, so his entire hit.

I agree that Kahun, Kampf and Johnson have all made their cases over players like Sikura and Hayden.  Politics will probably weigh in, though.

If Boqvist makes the team (and he probably shouldn’t because it won’t matter enough to bother), he won’t go past the 10 NHL games that let his entry level deal kick in.  If one of the kids make it, that would be Jokiharju (not that he’s “earned” it either).   They should just go with:
    Keith – Seabrook
    Rutta – Davidson
    Manning – Gustafsson
    (Murphy IR)
Dahlstrom or Gilbert or Hillman as 7

Let Jokiharju take a couple of months to relax in RFD and be one of the first callups.  I suppose it can’t hurt having Jokiharju stay with Murphy hurt, but I’d rather see him not get his poop pushed in night after night

    Just my opinion.

I really hope Sikura can mature into a decent NHL player.  But the kid is SO SKINNY.  The photos from the last week with his family make him look like he is a fragile stick figure cartoon character.  He looks like he weighs 140 pounds.

Get him to a good polish restaurant and start feeding that boy.

I think Kahun makes the team–and not on the third line.  I think Q will try him with Toews.

Sikura MIGHT make the team, but IMO, shouldn’t.   He needs time at the Rock and needs to gain muscle.

Someone tell me Manning will get better….cuz….from what I saw, he sucks.
