February 10, 2018 at 10:12 pm #4831EnzoParticipantPositives:
Closing in on a Top 5 draft pick
Nobody injured
Negatives:
Everything else about this team both physically and emotionally, pretty much.
Kane sets the tone with an egregious turnover that leads to Jeff Fish, I mean Glass, flopping around the crease per usual.
Toews cannot make a tape-to-tape pass.
The rest of the Top 6 forwards completely ineffective.
5v3 PowerPlay with no high danger looks and no goal.
Entire game played on the perimeter. No net front present both 5v5 and on the PP.
Entire defense behind Keith should be in the AHL, including the goalie.
What I’d do:
Trade Anisimov
Trade Wingels for a mid round pick
Keep Crawford out the rest of the year
Keep playing Jeff Glass
Draft Top 5 and take Brady Tzchuk who is the epitome of what this team lacks….size, grit, tenacity, physicality, and high end skill to go along with it. Maybe the Hawks get luck if they finish as the 5th worst team in the league and win the lottery to draft Dahlin….a guy can dream, right??
Hey Enzo – thankfully I was watching some TV with the wife and checked the phone to see we were already down 2-0 and thought the Clapton Documentary on Showtime would be better viewing. I was right. They’re sliding fast. Meanwhile newsflash Panarin is leading the Jackets in points. Another great move by Stan the man.
And as JJ pointed out to and I’ve mentioned what the hell was Bowman thinking when he didn’t get a solid backup for this season knowing Crawford’s injury history the last two offseasons. Instead we get Glass and Forsberg. With the d corps Bowman has assembled they’re getting killed. One can only wonder if you still had Hammer here and heck TVR that the defense would be just a bit better huh?
Both local papers talked with Bowman yesterday and he made a point of saying the core 4 will be here next season: Translation I can’t move those guys because of the ridiculous contracts I handed them with NMCs so I’m stuck. Yout captain has 4 goals in his last 24 games…and is making 10.5 mildo per. But he was quick to point out that his roster has gotten younger. As you point out this team doesn’t really have much for bangers – a bunch of smurf forwards. The Cat is a nice player but is he going to lead you to another Cup? And there are some other pieces like Schmaltz, but you handed an extremely gifted playmaker in Panarin away.
A lot of Stan’s supporters point to the fact he’s smart in regards to the Cap, but he’s created his own cap mess and its killing this team. Any smart business man will tell you its better to sell a little early than too late. His bad trade moves continue to pile up (see Sharp, Leddy, Danault etc). Sharp being the worst – instead of getting needed cap space to hopefully hang onto Saad/Oduya (at least one) he was forced to take back Nil’s players and give up a good young physical dman in Johns). And Bowman never got the dman he needed that spring for the series against the Blues even though he had all season to make that move. Pathetic.
And lets not forget his drafting (see Oz’s 2 parter on this site) and its easy to see that Stan’s work put this team where it currently is started a couple of seasons ago. Had Bowman done thing differently he could have jettisoned some of the aging core and gotten younger on the fly while remaining competitive and IMHO would have at least one more Cup to show for it.

They could drop to the 6th worst team in the league in a weeks time and have a good shot at a top 3 pick. The NHL has to do something to help their darling out at some point right?
Tank tank tank.
Keep starting Glass, more Oesterle QBing the PP, and keep that Rockford shuffle going.
I’d think Hartman gets at least a 2nd and a 4th or maybe a 2nd this year and 3rd next and its time to make that move.
What a ridiculous game. lol.

Also I think the hawks believe the no look back pass is a high percentage play or something….
I SCREAM at my men’s league team when they do that. knock it off!
especially in the neutral zone or at the blue lines
