Following a season-opening 3-2 loss to the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Tuesday, the Chicago Blackhawks continued their road trip to start the 2025-26 campaign on Thursday night against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. The Hawks made some lineup changes from Tuesday night’s contest, as they went with 11 forwards and seven defensemen with Louis Crevier dressing and Sam Lafferty and Ethan Del Mastro sitting as healthy scratches. The game also marked the season debut of Alex Vlasic, who missed most of the preseason with a leg injury. Arvid Soderblom made his first start of the season against the Bruins’ Joonas Korpisalo.

First period

The Bruins struck first when Casey Mittelstadt scored his first of the season at 3:51. Viktor Arvidsson skated in and made a nifty move around Artyom Levshunov and put the puck on net, which Soderblom stopped, but Mittelstadt outworked Levshunov and swept it in for the goal.

Connor Bedard tied it with his first of the season at 8:17. Behind the Bruins’ net, Colton Dach took a big hit, but before that was able to poke the puck around the boards to Andre Burakovsky in the corner. Burakovsky found a wide-open Bedard in the right circle, who ripped the one-timer to tie the game at 1–1.

The game would remain tied after one with the Bruins having an 11-7 edge in shots on goal.

Second period

Crevier gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead at the 2:22 mark with his first of the season. Nick Foligno won an offensive-zone draw back to Bedard, who fed Crevier, who snapped a wrist shot that deflected off of Tanner Jeannot and over Korpisalo’s glove to put the Hawks in front.

Speaking of Jeannot, he tied the score at 2-2 at 9:10. Michael Eyssimont skated in front and shot the puck, which Soderblom stopped but left a rebound on the doorstep that Jeannot jumped on for his first of the season. The game would remain tied through two periods. The Hawks outshot the Bruins 8-7 in the frame but the Bruins had an 18-15 edge through 40 minutes.

Third period

The Bruins carried over some power play time from a two-man advantage they had late in the second period. Elias Lindholm wasted no time scoring his second of the season just 15 ticks into the period. David Pastrnak skated at the top of the circle and dished to Pavel Zacha at the doorstep, who passed across the goalmouth to Lindholm, who shot it in to give Boston a 3-2 lead.

The Hawks tied it when Burakovsky scored his first as a Blackhawk. Levshunov made a nice no-look backhand pass to Teuvo Teravainen to exit the zone and skate up the ice. Teravainen entered the offensive zone, fed Frank Nazar, back to Levshunov, who found Burakovsky in the slot, who snapped it in at 2:22 of the third to tie the game at 3-3 and it would stay that way at the end of regulation.

Overtime

In the extra session, the teams traded quality chances including Nazar getting robbed on a sprawling save by Korpisalo, who also stopped Bedard with the glove on a breakaway. Fraser Minten won it for the Bruins with an unassisted goal at 2:10. Minten skated in and sniped a wrist shot past Soderblom for his first of the season to win it 4-3 for Boston.

Analysis

It was a strong effort start to finish for the Hawks, as you can start to see this team settle in to head coach Jeff Blashill’s system. There are certainly some areas that still need work, including special teams and staying out of the penalty box. Individually, there were strong efforts from several including Bedard, Burkovsky, Dach, Nazar and Sam Rinzel, however, Levshunov remains an adventure on the ice with some good moments like his playmaking on the Hawks’ third goal and some rough ones, especially defensively.

The Blackhawks return to Chicago for their home opener on Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens. Puck drop is at 6 p.m. CST and will be nationally televised on NHL Network and locally on CHSN with the radio call on 720 AM WGN.

The Chicago Blackhawks came into Thursday night’s action looking to put together a few wins before the end of the season. They had just lost the second of a home-and-home series to the Pittsburgh Penguins in which they did not put up a single goal and looked pretty lethargic against another team that does not have anything left to play for this season. In a repeat of that theme, facing the Boston Bruins gave their younger lineup a chance to find some cohesiveness as a group before the end of the season. Here was the Blackhawks’ lineup versus the Bruins:

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

First period

It took until the halfway point of the period, but we got a goal in the first. David Pastrnak looked like he stuck his knee out to trip Philipp Kurashev, but it was not called. That initiated a turnover that ended up with Pastrnak tipping the puck into the net, 1–0 Bruins. That would be the only goal of the frame, as both teams put up double-digit shots, but were not able to put anything else into the net.

Second period

The second period was more of the same in the goal scoring department. No one had scored anything for the first eight plus minutes of the second. The Bruins tried to make a pass back to the blue line in the offensive zone. Nick Foligno managed to steal the puck from there, and went in on a breakaway. He put a wrister on target that beat Jeremy Swayman stick-side, knotting things up at 1–1.

Just a few minutes later, the Bruins got their best chance of the period. They put on a passing clinic, with the puck winding up on the stick of Fabian Lysell. He put a shot on net that Arvid Soderblom made a diving stop in kicking out his skate to keep the puck out. The second period would end 1–1, with both teams getting some chances to get in front, but neither one being able to put another puck to the back of the net.

Third period

All of the scoring happened in the third in this game. The Blackhawks managed four shots on net in the period; they scored on all of them. The first goal came at the 3:14 mark of the period, with Ryan Donato putting home his 30th of the season to put the Blackhawks up 2–1.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

It just started coming fast and furious after that. Just over a minute later, Tyler Bertuzzi put a shot toward the net that was knocked down by the Bruins’ defense. He picked up the puck again and wristed it past Swayman, 3–1 Blackhawks. The Blackhawks were not done yet. Just 24 seconds later, Kevin Korchinski took a pass in the slot from Connor Bedard and snapped it over the glove of Swayman, 4–1 Chicago.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

A little later in the frame, the Bruins would get one back. Pastrnak again got the puck and this time got it to Morgan Geekie in front. He put his shot past Soderblom, bringing the Bruins within two. That would be it though, as Foligno would add one more empty-netter on the penalty kill, and the Blackhawks would take the victory by a score of 5–2.

Analysis

The Blackhawks put on a clinic in this game. They showed that they are capable of taking advantage of opportunities when they are there, as they made the most of every shot in the third. They also did not have a single player with a negative plus/minus rating in the game, which shows they were doing what they can to be in the right places defensively and offensively in order to generate the most opportunities. Watching the young guys out there can be a bit of a roller coaster depending on the game, but this was one where everyone kept their composure and worked well together. Of course, special shoutout to The Rink staffer Andy Campbell, who was on hand to cheer the Blackhawks to victory!

The Blackhawks’ next game is on Saturday night versus the Winnipeg Jets. That game will be at 6 p.m. CDT on NHL Network and everyone’s favorite CHSN.

The Chicago Blackhawks came into Wednesday night’s action looking to break their current skid. They had dropped their prior three games against opponents who are on a roll: the NHL-best Minnesota Wild, the streaking Columbus Blue Jackets (winning five of their last seven), and the Toronto Maple Leafs with their potent offense. The Hawks would look to turn their luck around against the Bruins, who themselves had won three of their last four coming into the night’s action. Only one lineup change of note for the Blackhawks in this game, as Petr Mrazek would come back in for Arvid Soderblom in net.

First period

Things looked good for the Blackhawks early on in this game, with their first goal coming in under a minute and a half into the game. Alex Vlasic took a beautiful feed from Nick Foligno and wristed his first of the year past Jeremy Swayman, 1–0 Blackhawks early.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Eleven minutes later, Morgan Geekie would come back for the Bruins as he followed up his own shot to put home the rebound, knotting things up into the first intermission, 1–1.

Second period

Just three minutes into the second, the Blackhawks would be back in a familiar position. Brad Marchand took a pass from David Pastrnak circle to circle and put it past Mrazek, 2–1 Boston. Just over two minutes later, it was Pastrnak to Marchand again to make it 3–1 Bruins. Pastrnak took the puck from former Blackhawk defenseman Jordan Oesterle on a failed clearing attempt by Ilya Mikheyev, and before anyone could react, it was in the net. Mikheyev would get some redemption before the period was out, though. He got the puck along the boards and fed Jason Dickinson in the left circle, who wristed one to the back of the net, sending things to the intermission at 3–2 Bruins.

Third period

Five minutes into the period, the Blackhawks had the puck in the offensive zone. Lukas Reichel was unable to get a shot through to the net on a backhand attempt. With no Blackhawk but Reichel in the vicinity, Justin Brazeau got the puck up quickly to Geekie again. He went in on the breakaway and put the puck in the back of the net, 4–2 Boston. That would do it for this one, as that took all of the wind out of the Blackhawks’ sails, netting them their fourth loss in a row.

Analysis

Once again, I believe that this loss comes down to fundamentals. If you do not take penalties, you do not have to spend energy and time killing them off, and maybe you have more of both to be able to work at getting back into the game. Being disciplined is key to winning, as winning teams do not tend to take dumb, lazy penalties like delay of game and tripping. The Blackhawks had so many pucks given to them by the Bruins that they were not able to do anything with either, as the Bruins racked up 20 giveaways somehow, but won two-thirds of the faceoffs in the game. The Blackhawks need to get back to the basics, as it is showing that even working hard to overcome your own mistakes is not enough in this game if you cannot first do everything else you are supposed to do to win games.

The Blackhawks will look to break their losing streak on Saturday afternoon, hosting the Winnipeg Jets. That game will be at 3 p.m. CST on good old CHSN, or wherever you are able to stream from.

The Chicago Blackhawks’ gauntlet of a schedule to start the season continued on Tuesday night at the United Center when they faced their third consecutive undefeated team, the Boston Bruins. This was be the second matchup this season between the two teams, with Boston winning the first game 3–1 at TD Garden on Oct. 11. Petr Mrazek started in goal for the Blackhawks against the Bruins’ Jeremy Swayman. The Hawks welcomed back Philipp Kurashev into the lineup for his regular season debut. He replaced Taylor Hall, who went on the injured list earlier in the day, retroactive to Oct. 21, with a left shoulder injury, which he sustained in Boston.

In the first period, the Blackhawks thought they grabbed a 1–0 lead on a Connor Bedard one-timer off a turnover on the power play. However, the Bruins challenged the play for offside. A lengthy video review led to the Bruins winning the challenge and Bedard’s third career goal was wiped away. The period would end 0–0.

The Bruins opened the scoring at the 3:49 mark of the second frame when a wide-open Pavel Zacha tipped a point shot from Kevin Shattenkirk past Mrazek. For Zacha, the goal was his first of the season, and for Shattenkirk, he picked up his first point in a Bruins sweater. The Bruins would take the 1–0 lead into the second intermission, as the Blackhawks’ offense continued to struggle.

In the third period, the Hawks came out of the locker room with some energy but had nothing to show for it. At the 4:06 mark, rookie Matthew Poitras took advantage of a Corey Perry turnover and won a footrace against the former Hart Trophy winner and scored his third of the season on a breakaway to give the Bruins a 2–0 lead.

Just 56 seconds later, Trent Frederic scored his second of the season to give Boston a 3–0 lead. Charlie Coyle skated in on the rush and shot it from the left circle that Mrazek stopped but left a rebound. Multiple Bruins crashed the net and Frederic tapped in the loose puck to extend the Boston lead. The score would stay the same through the final buzzer as the Blackhawks could not generate much offensively. Swayman stopped all 23 shots he faced while the Bruins pelted Mrazek with 43 shots.

Analysis

For those of you who thought the Blackhawks would compete for a playoff spot this season (and we know there are a few of you eternal optimists out there in Twitterland), you should pop in the tape of this game to see how far away they are from contention. The Hawks were once again thoroughly outclassed in yet another game where it looked like men against boys on the ice. The same issues that have plagued the team in previous games happened again tonight: The offense, aside from when Bedard is on the ice, generates few, if any, quality scoring chances, too many turnovers up and down the lineup and the defense is caught out of position too often, which is mostly attributed to its youth and inexperience, and they are giving up way too many scoring chances. While the penalty kill has been solid, the power play has been nothing short of a disaster, largely due to losing face-offs and poor zone entries. In fact, you could make a fairly compelling case the Hawks have given up more shorthanded chances then they have generated quality scoring chances of their own. On the positive side, Mrazek continues to play well and keep the Hawks in games, but this is a boat that can only hold so much water.

The Hawks return to action on Friday in Las Vegas against the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is at 5 p.m. CDT on NBCSCH and on 720 WGN.

Following their opening night comeback win in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night, the Chicago Blackhawks had little time to celebrate, as they visited the Boston Bruins for Boston’s season opener at TD Garden on Wednesday night. Arvid Soderblom started in net for the Hawks against the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, Linus Ullmark.

After the Hawks killed off an early Bruins power play, Connor Bedard scored the first goal of his career. Bedard skated in the offensive zone with the puck and made a behind-the-back pass to Ryan Donato, who fed it back to Bedard in the right circle. Bedard shot it from a near horizontal angle and Ullmark made the stop but left a rebound that Bedard retrieved and wrapped it around the open right side of the net for the goal. The Hawks had a 1–0 lead at the 5:37 mark of the first.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Trent Frederic tied it for the Bruins at 1–1 at 11:22 when he deflected a Brandon Carlo shot from the point. Rookie center Matthew Poitras set up the play and picked up his first career point on the goal. An entertaining first would end with the teams tied 1–1.

At 13:09 of the second, Milan Lucic skated in 2-on-1 and fed David Pastrnak in the right circle, who snapped one past Soderblom. The Bruins took a 2–1 lead and it would remain that way after 40 minutes.

The Bruins hung on to a 2–1 advantage for most of the third period. Pastrnak iced it with his second of the game into the Hawks’ vacated net with 58 seconds left to give the Bruins a 3–1 lead, which stood as final.

Analysis

For the second straight game, the Hawks received spectacular goaltending, which kept them in the game. Otherwise, this was a fairly one-sided affair. While Bedard flashed his high-end skill, the rest of the offense could not generate many chances. At one point, the Hawks were down to 10 forwards in the third with Taylor Hall exiting early in the second with an injury after a collision with Carlo, and Jason Dickinson missed half of the third while serving a 10-minute misconduct penalty after instigating a fight with John Beecher, who had just driven Cole Guttman into the boards from behind. With the Hawks playing the second game in as many nights, they began to wear down late as the Bruins dominated possession in the closing minutes. Rookie defender Wyatt Kaiser had another tough night, while Kevin Korchinski and Alex Vlasic had fine, albeit unremarkable, showings.

The Hawks continue their season-opening road trip on Saturday night in Quebec against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre. Puck drop is 6 p.m. CDT on NHL Network with the radio call on 720 WGN.

The Boston Bruins’ road to history continued on Tuesday night at the United Center for a game against their Original Six brethren, the Chicago Blackhawks. The Hawks returned home following a 3–1 loss to the reigning Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning, while the Bruins were coming off a surprising and rare 5–3 loss in Detroit. The Hawks started Petr Mrazek in net against Vezina Trophy favorite Linus Ullmark. However, something happened along Boston’s march to a record tying 62 wins: They ran into a feisty Blackhawks team which had nothing to lose and little to play for other than pride.

Despite a slow start, including multiple giveaways, the Hawks jumped out to a 1–0 lead. MacKenzie Entwistle forced a turnover in his own zone then skated in 1-on-1 against Bruins defenseman Connor Clifton and scored on the backhand for his third of the season at 14:29 of the first. The Hawks took that lead into the first intermission.

Nearly midway through the second period, Mrazek took a Dmitry Orlov shot to his mask and would end up leaving the game about a minute later and would not return. With Alex Stalock entering in relief, the Bruins tied it at 1–1. With Jake DeBrusk parked in front of Stalock, Hampus Lindholm fired his ninth of the season from the point at the 14:58 mark.

Less than two minutes later, the Hawks regained the lead when Joey Anderson scored his fourth of the season on a wrist shot from just outside the left post through a screened Ullmark. Anderson’s goal was his second in a Hawks sweater to give his team a 2–1 lead.

The Bruins tied it with 11.1 seconds left in the second when Tyler Bertuzzi won a board battle and centered it to a driving Trent Frederic, who tapped in his 14th of the season. The game was tied 2–2 after two periods.

The Bruins took their first lead of the game at the 3:02 mark of the third period. Pavel Zacha scored his 17th when he fired the puck toward the net and it deflected in off Jarred Tinordi’s skate to give Boston a 3–2 lead.

Just 53 seconds later, the Hawks tied it when the red-hot Taylor Raddysh poked in a loose puck out of scrum in front of the Boston net for his 18th of the season. For Raddysh, it was his fourth goal in the last four games.

The Hawks took a 4–3 lead at the 6:59 mark when Boris Katchouk rushed up the ice, skated around Bruins’ defenseman Derek Forbort, went in alone and fired a wrist shot top right corner from the left face-off dot for his fourth of the season and third point of the night.

The Hawks added an insurance goal on the power play when Ian Mitchell skated into the slot but was surrounded by Bruins. The loose puck took a lucky bounce to Tyler Johnson, who found a wide open Raddysh, who one-timed the puck in for his second of the game and 19th of the season. The Hawks had a 5–3 lead at the 16:08 mark.

With 1:24 left, while Ullmark was leaving the ice, David Pastrnak was awarded a penalty shot, which he overplayed and whiffed on, which kept the game at 5–3.

The Hawks iced it with 44.8 left when Raddysh completed the hat trick with his 20th of the season into the empty net to give the Hawks a 6–3 lead, which was the final. The Hawks would register their best win of the season, which marked the first time all season the Hawks put up six goals in a game.

The Blackhawks begin a five-game road trip on Thursday night in Tennessee against the Nashville Predators. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. CDT.

Last Thursday night, the Chicago Blackhawks learned what it was like to give up a game-winning goal with 17 seconds left in regulation in Boston—only this time, the game was played in early March during the regular season instead of being Game 6 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final. Six days later, the Hawks looked to avenge their 4–3 loss at TD Garden in a rematch on Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins at United Center. Marc-Andre Fleury started for the home team against the Bruins’ Linus Ullmark.

First period

The Blackhawks started slow (and it would not get much better) as the Bruins played most of the frame in the Hawks end where they generated several quality scoring chances. Fleury was up to the challenge by stopping every shot he faced. The Bruins outshot the Hawks 14–4 in the scoreless period.

Second period

The middle frame was similar to the first with the Bruins controlling the play against the sluggish Hawks, but Fleury had all the answers. On the other end, the Hawks continued to have a difficult time generating any offense against a suffocating Boston defense. The Hawks’ best chance of the period came in the final minute when Patrick Kane sprung Kirby Dach in alone, but Ullmark stopped him with a glove save. Seconds later, Mike Reilly was penalized for tripping Brandon Hagel, so the Hawks went on the power play but did not score during the first 45 seconds. In the second, the Bruins outshot the Hawks 21–7 and led 35–11 in shots on goal after 40 minutes.

Third period

After the Hawks came up empty during their carryover power play time, including an early scoring chance by Dach, the Bruins finally broke through on their 40th shot on net. During a goalmouth scramble, Patrice Bergeron knocked in his 17th of the season to give Boston a 1–0 lead at the 4:43 mark.

Less than five minutes later, the Hawks finally broke through. Jonathan Toews won a board battle and fed Jake McCabe at the right point, who made a cross ice pass to Caleb Jones, who fired a one-timer that Hagel deflected past a screened Ullmark for his 21st of the season at 9:36 to tie the game at 1–1.

The Bruins thought they took the lead with just under five minutes left in regulation when a goal by Charlie Coyle was waved off due to goaltender interference. Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy challenged the ruling on the ice, but the replay crew in Toronto upheld the call, so the Hawks received a power play for delay of game. The Hawks were able to generate some chances, but came up empty with the man advantage. The game would remain tied 1–1 after regulation. In the third, the Bruins outshot the Hawks 11–9, and 46–20 for regulation.

Overtime

The Bruins needed exactly 100 seconds to win it in the extra session. David Pastrnak found Taylor Hall to the right of Fleury, which created a 2-on-1 down low. Hall fed a wide open Matt Grzelcyk, who one-timed the puck past Fleury for his third of the season and the win. The Bruins registered the only two shots on net in overtime for a full-game total of a 48–20 margin.

The good, the bad, the ugly

The good

Marc-Andre Fleury: This game would have been a blowout if it weren’t for “The Flower” keeping his team in the game with 46 saves. He made a ton of sparkling stops and certainly caught the eyes of the legion of scouts on hand.

The bad

The Blackhawks’ offense: The Hawks registered a measly four shots on goal in the first, seven in the second and nine in the third, although they played much better in the final frame than the first two. Nevertheless, they struggled to get pucks on net, but full marks go to the Bruins’ defensive coverage, which was excellent throughout the game.

The ugly

The Blackhawks’ defense: The Hawks were awful defensively, as they gave up too many good scoring chances to the Bruins and flat out left Fleury hung to dry.

Analysis

It was not a great performance by the Blackhawks despite getting a point, which they can thank their future Hall of Fame goaltender for earning. The rest of the team had no business “earning” anything.

The Hawks will get a few days off before traveling to St. Paul, Minnesota, to face the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday afternoon. Puck drop is at 1 p.m. CDT on NHL Network and NBCSCH with the radio call on WGN 720.

The Chicago Blackhawks came into Thursday’s game riding high from their trouncing of the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. In a rematch of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final, the Boston Bruins would be the one to stake a claim on the significance of 17 seconds, scoring the game-winner with 17.2 seconds left.

First period

The Bruins got on the scoreboard first. Boston’s Charlie Coyle forced a neutral zone turnover and got the puck to Craig Smith. Smith swung the puck over to defenseman Connor Clifton. Clifton drove the puck hard to the net. Kevin Lankinen fended off the Clifton shot attempt, but the rebound caromed over to Coyle in the left dot. Coyle blasted a shot past Lankinen for the game’s first goal.

Less than two minutes later, Alex DeBrincat tipped the puck over to Patrick Kane as they cleared their defensive zone. Kane wheeled into the Boston zone and drew the coverage. He then sent a beautiful pass over to DeBrincat, who buried the pass for the game’s tying goal.

The first period ended with the Blackhawks and Bruins tied at 1–1.

Second period

Early in the second period, Jonathan Toews forced a turnover in the neutral zone and found Brandon Hagel streaking into the Bruins’ zone. Hagel then skated around the net and completed his wrap-around that stunned the Boston defense, putting the visitors ahead 2–1.

After the Hagel goal, the Blackhawks started their short-term lease on the penalty box. The first penalty was committed by Henrik Borgstrom, who was caught hooking David Pastrnak. Despite the penalty, the Blackhawks were able to survive this penalty-kill unscathed.

Less than three minutes later, Jake McCabe put his stick in the face of Taylor Hall to earn himself a high sticking penalty. During the odd-man situation, Boston was able to capitalize and tie the game at 2–2, as Boston defenseman Jack Ahcan fired a rebound past Lankinen for his first NHL goal.

With the Blackhawks still reeling, Connor Murphy committed the team’s third penalty of the period. The Bruins came into the game with the seventh-best power play in the NHL. Their power play unit was on full display as Pastrnak scored the go-ahead goal from the circle to put the home side ahead 3–2.

The second period ended with the Blackhawks trailing by one goal.

Third period

After being on the penalty kill for the majority of the second period, it was refreshing for the Hawks to be on the power play in the third. With their best scoring chance winding down, Kane entered the zone with a 3-on-2 advantage. Kane feathered a pass over to DeBrincat, who fired a shot that was stopped by Jeremy Swayman. With the rebound out front, Hagel cleaned up the chance for his second goal of the game, leveling the score at 3–3.

Despite controlling the first part of the third period, the Blackhawks could not wrestle the lead away from Boston. Midway through the period, the momentum of the game swung in Boston’s favor. The Bruins peppered Lankinen with wave after wave of shots. With less than a minute remaining, the Blackhawks lost a controversial face-off in their own zone. The puck then took a lucky bounce over to Pastrnak, who blasted a shot past the Blackhawks netminder for the game-winner.

The Blackhawks lost in a heartbreaker 4–3.

Analysis

The Blackhawks continue to get tremendous value from Brandon Hagel. When the Blackhawks signed Hagel as a free agent out of the WHL, they could not have envisioned Hagel as a 20-goal scorer. Hagel continues to be one of the bright spots in a very bleak season.

While Hagel was a bright spot during this game, Tyler Johnson can be described as the invisible man. Johnson appeared in 7:46 minutes of ice time, registered no shots on goal and was a -1 in the game. Since coming back from surgery, this has been the least amount of ice time for Johnson. The Blackhawks are still on the hook for Johnson’s contract for two more seasons after this one. This will be something to watch in the future.

The Blackhawks’ next game is a road tilt against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST in Canada’s capital.
