Hopefully StanBo saw what Tampa did to make the team more playoff worthy by adding size and grit to the lineup. The “smurf experiment” and “hockey stick ballet defense” can now be put to rest, so it’s time to draft players at 6’+ and over 190 lbs.

I would hope both Kane and Toews would speak up. The Hawks have 21M in cap between those two with no replacements in the AHL or elsewhere. Now with age creeping in, injuries will follow if they don’t protect them better. An Al Secord/ Tom Wilson addition to the left side would go along way to giving them the space they need to be effective, and add time to their careers.

Best player available, need or the preferred skill/speed?  Assume it’s a forward.    Best thing I see about drafting #17 it has a chance for StanBo to allow a player to fall to him instead of him having a choice of 3-4-5-6 players inside the top 10.  In other words better lucky than good

As mentioned in Eric’s blog I hope Holloway is there at #17 and he should be.  But will a Jarvis or Mercer fall?

Will the organIzation that treats goalies like lepers draft one?

IIRC if the Hawks didn’t win that idiotic first rd play in thingy vs a horrid Oilers club they would have picked 9th.  Marco Rossi just went 9th to the Wild…………… But at least the Hawks got that valued playoff experience!!!

Mercer is there at #17!  Will he be the dropper they take. I’m already at you tube to watch everything on him in anticipation they take him.  But will it be Perrault?   Trade down?

Ryan Pace drafts Lukas Reichel!!   He outsmarted the world by taking him in Rd 1 when every service had him slotted in Rd 2.   https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/381687/lukas-reichel

Watched maybe 3-4 minutes of the following clip and the kid reminded me of TT, Teavo Teravanien minus the quick twitch explosion.  The way he cuts and slashes, a bounce giddy up to his stride, uses momentum speed for board battles, slinky fluid upper torso, all elbows and shoulders, wide stance/stride, attacks as a forechecker with a super quick stick like a wrestler using 2-3 moves in rapid fire succession to strip the puck from behind, the way the puck is off his stick in a nano second, perpetual motion, IQ tells him to get the puck to the slot.

I see TT for God’s sake.   Am I off?

This is against men albiet in the German league.  Drafted outside Major Junior means he can play  AHL immediately.   Narrator says he started last season at 5ft 9 in and grew to 6ft this yr.  ………. I’m warming up to this kid.

Oz, does Reichel remind you of TT, Teavo Teravainen without the quick twitch explosion? Speedy, wide stance, giddy up jump to his fluid effortless stride, very high cruising speed, slinky torso all shoulders & elbows, slashing/darting, perpetual motion, like a wrestler 2-3 rapid super quick stick moves to strip from behind, very high processing speed which gets the puck off his stick in a nano second whether it’s a shot or pass that allows him to play at a super high speed, excellent closing speed.

I see a whole lot of Teavo Teravainen in this kid without the freakish quick twitch explosion. I see a kid with elite processing speed, a super high cruising speed with multiple gears and feet/edges/hands that allow him to play super fast. Edges that allow him to change angles that need to be defended along with multiple gears that dictate pace and processing speed that gives him numerous options that make him dangerous.

He remind you of TT?  Watching the film maybe just 3 minutes in I’m thinking my God, this kid reminds me of TT in so many ways.
