Blackhawks Post-game One-timers — Feb. 27 vs. Anaheim Ducks

Riding high on a five-game winning streak, the Chicago Blackhawks came into Monday night’s game shorthanded. Earlier in the day, Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson traded Jake McCabe and Sam Lafferty to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a conditional first-round pick in 2025 and a second-round pick in 2026. McCabe and Lafferty joined Jack Johnson as recently departed Blackhawks.

Despite the adversity, the Blackhawks jumped out to an early lead with a Tyler Johnson power play goal. With all the lineup changes, Johnson has taken up residency as the net front presence on the power play. Thus far, the move to the front of the net has paid off for Johnson. Sadly, the early lead would not last, as the Ducks responded quickly. The Ducks scored two goals in the first period and never look back securing a 4–2 victory.

  • Max Domi got an assist on the Tyler Johnson goal and extended his point streak to six games.
  • Anaheim received goals from Isac Lundestorm, Jakob Silfverberg, Max Jones and Troy Terry.
  • Andreas Anthanasiou scored his 13th goal of the season and could be a player a contender wants at the deadline.

The highlight of the Blackhawks game was the in-between period interview with Domi.

With the Patrick Kane trade all but complete, the expectation is that the Blackhawks could still move Domi or Athanasiou before Friday’s NHL trade deadline. The race to the bottom is now entering its next phase this season.

The Blackhawks’ next game is Tuesday at 8 p.m. CST against the Arizona Coyotes.
