    1.  The mediocrity of this team is an effect of the plethora of NMCs and the contracts given on the basis of past performance.  The GM tied his own hands.  Not smart.

    2. Drafting undersized Defensemen is stupid when you have a team full of undersized defensemen and your need is help NOW.

    3.  Center depth isnt great.  But bottom 6 depth is more of a problem, IMO. Maybe a 4th line of Kruger, Martinson and Hayden/Kunitz would be fine?  But…blecch.

    4.  Nobody is going to waive a NMC until they get rid of Quenneville.   If Q goes, then everyone else will want out.  I would still keep Q, but if there is a rebuild, then move him into the front office and put in a coach who is going to grow along with a young team.

    5.  If they had a freaking GAWDAWFUL power play last year, and they havent changed the players or coaching staff, how do they realistically expect things to improve?

    6.  Hitz and Gritz are WAY overrated, but…if you are going to be a crappy ass team, then maybe having a lot of grit and hitz and meatball cheez graterz wouldnt be such a bad idea in the interim.  Protect the young players, go full on meatball and GIVE THE FANZ SOME BLOOD ON THE ICE MY FRENTZ

Lets not forget that in terms of depth at any defense spot, you have to think that Hillman, Dahlstrom and Forsling are ahead of Jokiharju (assuming Forsling comes back healthy from wrist surgery) and even Snuggrud might have an edge in terms of experience over Jokijarju.

I totally agree that Jokiharju would be best served with a year in Rockford.  Let him play with Forsling for a season.

I would like to see the other guys rotated through the NHL to see if any of them can stick.  Maybe use Hillman on the 3rd pair for 10-15 games, then rotate him back and bring up Dahlstrom or Snuggy and see if they can impress.   But I think Joki needs to play and play with a guy like Forsling who he may be paired with for a long time.  See if they can get some chemistry.

And I know that Cam Ward is the “starter” if Crawford isnt healthy, but Id put Forsberg as the “starter” and give him 55 games and let Ward play the rest.

Forsberg wasnt total crap.  His bad nights were BAD, but he was generally just fine behind a terrible defensive effort all season.

I’m not a big fan of Forsberg.  The amount of times that one “iffy” goal led to him completely unraveling is disconcerting.   He might change my mind this year, but he turned me off in a bad way.

I agree…..BUT…….the initiative of the org is to throw some new shiny toy in front of the fan base to distract them from all the other problems.  Deserving or not, they are fast tracking him.

They are fast tracking him because they have no other cards to play.  Ugh.  Forsling flopped like a 2000 pound rhino skydiving in a wingsuit.  Jokiharju could be in danger of doing the same thing.   At least Forsling looked like he belonged while in camp.  He never lost the deer in the headlights stare and he never played with enough urgency or edge to stay with the club.  Lets see how Jokiharju finishes camp.

Not expecting big things.  I think any of Blake Hillman, Dahlstrom or Snuggerud are a much safer choices.  Id rather take the guy whose first instinct is to stay home, clear his zone and be responsible as a rookie over the guy whose modus operandi is to skate up and be aggressive in the attack.  Being aggressive is awesome, but being mistake prone is also worrisome.

Rundblad was fine in the O zone.  And then…

Not that Joki is Rundblad 2.0, but just saying.  Offense isnt the hawks problem, except on the PP.
