BREAKING: Kraken trade MacDermid to Avalanche

With the free agent period opening up in just under 24 hours the Seattle Kraken flipped another expansion draft player for a draft pick.

After taking physical defenseman Kurtis MacDermid from the Los Angeles Kings, last Wednesday, they turned around today and traded him to the Colorado Avalanche for a 2023 fourth round draft pick.  It is believed that Kraken general manager Ron Francis is gearing up for a big free agency push.

The 27-year-old MacDermid blocked the most shots per 60 minutes of play of any L.A. Kings skater last season (5.62). His physical play also led to him registering 1.28 2-minute penalties per 60 minutes of play.
