Chicago Steel wins the inaugural Frosty Cup

  

The Chicago Steel extended their winning streak to nine games with a 7–2 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers in the inaugural 2020 USHL Frosty Cup at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. Chicago leads the Western Conference with a 23–4–1–0 record, five points better than Team USA.

THE STEEL DEAL:

  • Along with their nine-game winning streak, Chicago has won 16 of their last 17 games.
  • Gunnarwolfe Fontaine registered scored his 16th goal on the season in the Frosty Cup. Fontaine is tied with teammate Mathieu De St. Phalle for sixth in the USHL in goals. Chicago’s Sam Colangelo ranks third with 18 goals.

  • Speaking of Colangelo, the Northeastern University commit registered a hat trick in the Frosty Cup and has scored seven goals in the Steel’s last four contests. The hat trick was Colangelo’s fourth multi-goal game this season.

  • Brendan Brisson has also registered six goals in the last four games. Brisson now has 15 goals on the season.

  • Matt Coronato registered three goals in two games in Texas. The Huntington, New York native continues his excellent play this season with 22 points in 25 games for the Steel.
