Why I’m going to The-Rink

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking the time to investigate what the team here at The-Rink.com have begun.

I’m extremely proud to be joining a team of passionate personalities that share a similar vision about the game of hockey.  I’m also extremely happy to help continue to build this team into something even more special and unique.  The-Rink.com is not a website created for “hot takes” and click-bait.  The Rink is also not a place to just re-ingest a bunch of copied news feeds.  There are plenty of places like that to choose from.

The Rink is something that pours a can of gasoline on the fire that Puckin Hostile slowly stoked, beginning 7 years ago.  As I said at my previous endeavor, I’ve had several offers to work for other websites.  While I humbly appreciate the offers, none of them felt like the ideal opportunity.  I don’t feel like my heart would have been in it.  It just never “felt right“.  I am a person that largely trust my instincts and this opportunity was presented at the absolute ideal time.  I have a chance to continue to be myself, with a more robust supporting cast.  Hopefully, you’ll be seeing some of your favorite Hostile personalities contributing here at The-Rink.com, in the future.

What I, Gatekeeper, plan to continue to bring to the listeners of the new podcast and readers of this shiny new website is my unique perspective on the game of hockey; specifically Blackhawks hockey.  Again, much like what I attempted to accomplish at Puckin Hostile.

I have spent the better part of the last 35+ years playing, coaching, evaluating talent while losing gallons of blood, sweat and tears for this game of hockey, and I want share what I’ve learned.

What catches my eye.

What it is like to absorb a slap shot to the cage.

What a defenseman might be thinking when facing a 2-on-1.

What I have learned over the years.

Most importantly, what my gut and instincts tell me.

Just because the venue has changed doesn’t mean that I won’t be bringing you my trademarked pragmatic analysis sprinkled with some humor.  Hopefully that’s why you followed me here.

At it’s most basic level, Hockey us supposed to be fun, and we are going to have fun.

The possibilities are endless, and we’re all so excited to get this thing rolling.  That said, I want to welcome you to our new home…
