SUMMARY:

All season Blackhawks players and coaches have talked about needing to, “string together some wins.” At this point in the season, and looking ahead on their schedule, this may be their best time to do it. Riding a two-game winning streak, the Hawks face the Vancouver Canucks tonight, followed by a home and home series with the Calgary Flames. With the Canucks rebuilding, and the Flames a few points ahead in the standings, turning this two-game win streak into a five-game win streak could go a long way in the Blackhawks playoff chances.

The Canucks are coming off an overtime win against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night, and gave the Blackhawks fits the last time the two teams met. On December 28th, the Canucks ran the Hawks out of the building in a 5-2 win. Despite the Canucks record, they do have some good young fire power up front led by All-Star game MVP Brock Boeser and Bo Horvat.

As mentioned, the Blackhawks come into tonight’s game with that two-game winning streak after an impressive win in Nashville Tuesday night. The Blackhawks played really well the first 40 minutes, with goals by David Kampf and Vinnie Hinostroza, but were saved by Anton Forsberg in the third, who saved 42 of 43 shots on net. Forsberg’s play has really stood out over the last few games, and his stats are beginning to show it, with his goals against average falling under three, and his save percentage rising each game, now up to .915%.

Let’s hope for the sake of all us crazy Hawks fans who will be staying up to watch this nine o’clock start, that they come out and play well. There is nothing worse than losing sleep to watch the Blackhawks play a disinterested hockey game.

Please join the always entertaining conversation below! Look for a game recap tonight or tomorrow AM.

If this Hawk team is going to make any kind of push, they must have a great start to this game and not come out unfocused or lackadaisical.  They must not let the Canuck get the lead or hang around.  The days of turning it on in a blitzkrieg when they fall behind are a thing of the past.

Enjoy your work, Tyler.   As a quick side note listened to the podcast and you mentioned you played out of Fox Valley.  If you’re still near it you’ve gotta to check out some USHL action.  Plenty of future NHL players come thru.

As mentioned the Hawks need to come out ready and that might be a sort of indicator for the rest of the season.  They started strong and for the most part played 60 minutes vs a very strong NSH club.  Of course the Hawks don’t need being backed against the wall to play with fire vs the Preds but that doesn’t exist with VAN, who the Hawks could see a “lesser” opponent.

If the Hawks come out ready and play spirited for near 60 minutes it might be a sign the club understands the seriousness of every game and we might see the best the Hawks have for the rest of the season.  ………

I’ll be watching the effort #1 followed by Forsberg who might have settled in and is ready to give his team a chance in every game as a #1 goalie needs to.

When my alarm goes off at 4:45AM, not ideal. Lucky to get just over 4 hours of sleep.

Jeff don’t worry once the playoffs start you won’t have to worry about it all…sadly…

So what happens tonight?  They brought it against the Preds the other night…who just brought Jeff Fisher back to life as if they didn’t have enough centers…ugh.  Let’s see how they do against the nucks.  If they’re going to put a few wins together now would be the time.  One thing mentioned that Lavy said in the post game that he hadn’t seen the Hawks that fast – they had a lot of speed out of the gate.  Let’s hope that continues.

Gustafsson makes Daley look like a stay at home shutdown Dman.  Acts like the cops are chasing him when he’s at the attack blueline……….. Scary but fun to watch.
