BREAKING: Blackhawks send Ryan Carpenter to Flames

The Chicago Blackhawks continued their dealings ahead of Monday’s 2 p.m. CDT trade deadline, trading Ryan Carpenter to the Calgary Flames in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round draft pick.

Carpenter signed with the Blackhawks as an unrestricted free agent in 2019. In two and a half seasons with the Hawks, Carpenter tallied 10 goals and 21 assists in 168 games.

With Carpenter being an unrestricted free agent, moving him ahead of the deadline was a no-brainer for the Blackhawks. Given the return for fourth-line players is typically not very high, getting a fifth-round pick for Carpenter is certainly respectable for the Hawks.

It appears as though the Carpenter trade was the final deal made by the Blackhawks ahead of the trade deadline, with Calvin de Haan and Dominik Kubalik, among others, not dealt.
