SUMMARY:

With the trade of Michal Kempny and near-elimination from the playoffs, it’s now looking more and more like the Hawks have their sights set on next year.

Still, the atmosphere surrounding the team has to feel a bit more bright, coming off a 7-1 home ice thrashing of the Washington Capitals.

Anton Forsberg gets the net yet again—and with the demotion of Jeff Glass and an increasingly likely shutdown of Corey Crawford for the season, this could be Forsberg’s best opportunity to really show the team what he can do.

Forsberg was fine in the Washington rout—but he also basically wasn’t tested. In his previous outing versus Anaheim, Forsberg was beaten up high on three chances, but also came up big several times. For Forsberg, the challenge is showing he can be a reasonable “2-goal a game” goalie, assuming his defense keeps shot totals down in the mid 30s or lower. Which is assuming a lot with this Hawk defense.

We’ll recap tonight or tomorrow AM. Join the conversation below!

Lets make it two in a row. No more tanking. Miss the playoffs with some dignity.

At this point I’d rather tank and get a high draft pick.

( not that I have ANY faith in Bowman to draft the “right” guy with that pick)

Wingels on the top line again and Vinny on the 4th……… I’m ok with showcasing guys like Wingels but looking forward to see what Q ices after the TDL.

    Where’s Duclair?

I dunno. even if they do win that lottery it’s gonna take a lot more than one high draft pick to turn this team around. Lots of misery. Might as well play hockey.

What’s the deal with the password protected “tutorial” post?

It seems Stan and Q are never on the same page with regard to young-ish players acquired via trade. Is this more of a reflection on Stan or Q as a talent evaluator?

It might be more of a case of show casing Bouma and Wingels for a trade.

First 6 minutes have been spent in our own end.

    That’s not a good sign.

Well, I understand that, but Sharp over Duclair?? Sharp isn’t going anywhere and is finished.

Like seeing Dahlstrom on the #1 PK.  Get a look at the kid…….

Konroyd with an astute observation that Forsberg is moving nicely and it has a lot to do with starting games in a row.  Definitely a rythem position.  Those were solid left leg saves in close partially screened.

Watching Gufstason tonight reminds me of why you should be wary of having too many Swedes on your team. Not saying All, but many shy away from potential pain.

Hell, StanBow and Q ain’t on the same page with TDL moves!  Lest we forget Fleishman and Weise for Denault and a 2nd then Q rarely used either forward………… It’s old and now the Hawks are in the cellar.

Amazing to me, the Kings change coaches and still play that stifling structure.  Man you work for anything vs a King’s club.

their passing is much better than the hawks so far.

Nice to see Toews go to the net there.

Osterle needs that poise in his end. He looks like 2 different players depending on which zone he’s in.

It’s that structure IMO and they aren’t icing lines that are just thrown together and have some familiarity.  Not a fast team but the crisp passing gets them where they are going quickly………….. And they’ve been without Carter most of the yr.

I’m an Oesterle guy.  IIRC he’s 25 so no youngster but the foundation is there.  20 games ago he was getting more TOI than Keith for a few games.
