REPORT: Blackhawks sign Swedish Forward Anton Wedin

Earlier last week it was reported that the Blackhawks were prepared to sign relatively unknown Swedish wing Anton Wedin.

Tonight, the websites Expressen.se and HockeyNews.se reported that Wedin has indeed signed to play in the Blackhawks organization next season. It was also reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Arizona Coyotes also made strong offers to Wedin.

The 26-year-old Wedin has spent the last eight seasons playing with Timrå IK of Allsvenskan and the SHL. He is 5’11” 195 lbs and shoots left-handed. Wedin and Timrå IK had been playing in the second-tier Allsvenskan until this past season, when they were promoted to the SHL. He is coming off a 27 points (14G,13A) in 32 regular season games. In Relegation, he had 9 points (2G,7A) in seven games.

It is likely that he plays in Rockford this coming season, but stranger things have happened.
