TRADE: Kraken send Jarnkrok to Calgary Flames

The Seattle Kraken kicked off their first trade deadline season Wednesday by partnering up with their division foe Calgary Flames for a deal. The Kraken sent forward Calle Jarnkrok to the Flames for a second-round draft pick in 2022, a third-round draft pick in 2023 and a seventh-round draft pick in 2024. Seattle will also retain 50% of Jarnkrok’s salary.

If this is any indication of the haul that General Manager Ron Francis can get from this roster of mostly depth players, things are looking up in the Emerald City.

Jarnkrok was selected from the Nashville Predators in the expansion draft last summer. He played in 49 games with the Kraken and put up 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists). He comes with 63 games of NHL playoff experience and 15 playoff points (three goals, 12 assists).

Seattle will try to amass as many draft pick as they can to bolster a thin system. Look for some familiar names like Mark Giordano to be moved in the next five days and follow us at The Rink as we break down each move.
