Like you JJ I was late to watching Dach on film but after doing so I had him ranked with Zegras as the top skilled center (save for Hughes). In fact could not believe what I was seeing out of a 6ft 4in kid and afterwards understood what an NHL exec was quoted as saying, “only a handful of players in the world have his size/skating/hands/IQ/vision in the world”. No doubt.
My concern was his points totals on a very good Blades squad. Thought the kid has everything but points and this after having played a 1-1/2 yrs in the W HL going into last season. Thought his floor is low compared to a Turcotte but his ceiling is thru the roof.
Thought on it some more and with all he can do and with the fancies showing his freakish ins and outs the kid gives up offense (Toews?) to play the game right. So I’m less concerned with his numbers after thinking it over. ………. No doubt the kid has a tool box few have have especially for his size. His feet and hands along the wall are really something to see.
I’m a shift by shift as opposed to a highlight guy and Dach’s Hlinka film really shows what he brings. Plays PP and PK by the way………. Some of this is incredible and remember this is played in the summer before the season starts, so the kid had a whole season of development ahead of him after the Hlinka tournament. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBlgncjQosY
Wanted to add this about 6th rd pick goalie Dominic Basse. He’ll play for Youngstown of the USHL this yr so I personally will get a look at him live and on Hockey TV numerous times. ….. I like the consistency the kid shows with his SPG as he moves up the hockey ladder.
